bewafa raaste badalte hai,
humsafar saath chalte hai,

kiske ansoo chhupe hai phoolon mein,
choomte hi honth jalte hai,

unki aankhon ko gaur se dekha,
mandiron mein chiraag jalte hai,

ek deewar ,woh bhi sheeshe ki,
do badam paas-paas jalte hai,

woh sitare ,mere sitare hai,
jo bhari dhoop mein nikalte hai,

kaanch ke,motiyon ke,aansuon ke,
sab khilone ghazal mein dhalte hai……..

State-run BSNL’s aspiration of entering the lucrative Delhi and Mumbai
circles has not found favour with the Department of Telecom that feels
competition between PSUs in same service areas cannot add much value
to shareholder or customers.
After its first plea was rejected in 2004, it applied again in 2006
after MTNL got the National Long Distance licence. BSNL’s contention
was that since MTNL has entered its domain of domestic long distance
service, it should also be allowed to operate in Delhi and Mumbai,
where its sister concern is active.

The BSNL guys came and installed a Huawei SmartAX MT880 ADSL router today. As my place is about 4 KM away from the telephone exchange, I will not be getting the full 256Kbps promised by the telecom department (it seems ADSL has a distance limit of about 3.5Km for good quality).
The telecom department still seems to be not very conversant with Linux – but the people who came to do the installation were very helpful and friendly. I was given the phone number of a person who was using the router with Linux in case I had trouble setting it up – but that was not required as the configuration was very simple.
Here are the things to do to get DataOne working on Linux:
Plug in a LAN card and make sure that the required driver is present in the kernel, either compiled-in or loaded as a module.
Connect the router to the ethernet card.
Assign an IP address for the ethernet card; the router has a fixed interface address of 192.168.1.1, so you can use 192.9.168.2 for your ethernet interface. Just do `ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.2′.
Set up the route – just do `route add default gw 192.168.1.1′.
Enter the address of some DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf ( eg: 61.1.96.69, 61.1.96.71)
Try doing a `ping www.google.co.in’. If it works, great! If not, check whether it is some problem with the DNS settings by pinging a machine with the I/P address rather than the name. If that too doesn’t work, you will have to do some configuration on the router.
You can access the router via a browser – just enter the I/P address 192.168.1.1. You basically have to set the connection type to `PPPoE’; on my MT880 box, this comes under `WAN Settings’. You will then have to enter your user name and password (username is of the form xyz@dataone) and reset the router. It will take 2-3 minutes for the box to come up again – when it comes up, it will `automagically’ talk with the box at the exchange (via PPP?) and will be assigned a proper IP address. You need not bother about this address as you always see the router at a fixed address of 192.168.1.1.
Try pinging google.com again – it should work! You are now on DataOne!
I am getting connection speeds of about 190Kbps consistently; that should be OK, given the distance. Some of my students who are staying near the telephone exchange report that they are even getting speeds greater than the promised 256Kbps!

State-run telecom firm BSNL has placed the order for mobile equipment of 14 million GSM lines with Swedish vendor Ericsson at a cost of 80 dollar per line, much lower than the original cost of 107 dollar.

Ericsson officials said they have received the advanced purchase order (APO) for 2G equipment and would start studying it shortly. Ericsson has two weeks to pledge bank guarantee with the public sector firm, a mark of accepting the APO.

With the final deal size reduced by half to 23 million GSM lines, the contract now stands at two billion dollar or about Rs 8,000 crore. Of this, Ericsson being the lowest bidder will get 60 per cent of the order or about Rs 4,800 crore, while Nokia-Siemens, the second-lowest, would get 40 per cent or Rs 3,200 crore.

As for the 18.1 million line allotted to Alcatel-ITI, BSNL officials said the size of this contract would be taken up at a later stage but Alcatel-ITI would have to quote the same price as Ericsson.

The government yesterday allowed BSNL to place the contract for GSM lines but curtailed it to 23 million lines from the original size of 45.5 million lines. In the first phase, the company would roll out 17 million lines, comprising 14 million 2G and the remaining for the 3G network.

BSNL issued the APO to Ericsson shortly after it received direction from telecom minister A Raja, who had sought changes in the original contract valued at about Rs 18,500 crore as approved by his predecessor Dayanidhi Maran.

The company would place the APO for both 2G and 3G services, but the order for 3G equipment would be placed only after the policy on third generation services and spectrum availability is in place.

Short Message Serivce Centre Numbers ( FREE SMS ):-
SMSC (Short Message Serivce Centre Numbers) SMS Centre number allow you to send free sms, by changing your message centre number like this:
1. Go to messages
2. Message Settings
3. Set 1
4. Message Centre Number
5. Then change the number to one from SMSC Number section (from SMSC #’s given below)
What does this do? Instead of paying for your messages, you can alter a number in your phone to send to a different centre. This cannot charge you, and consequently you have free SMS! How does it work?
When you send a text message, it is first transmitted to your network’s routing centre, called the Short Message Service Centre, or SMSC. This SMSC is generally a telephone number, normally a memorable one- i.e. Orange’s is 0973 100973. Here, it is sent to the recipient’s network’s SMSC, where it is then forwarded to their phone. The whole process takes only seconds, but the vital part is when it reaches your SMSC, because then it is forwarded, and you are charged according to your tariff. If you, however, change your SMSC number to one below, the network who forward the message will not know who you are, and consequently cannot charge you. Clever huh? Does it always work? No! It can take hours to find a number that hasn’t been blocked by your network- they usually carry out checks monthly and bar any numbers known to be forwarding SMS. Also, I understand that bsnl and all networks in india have barred all numbers aside from their own- so it won’t work with
bsnl ,here i m giving imp data abt that and following r some number ok wellenjoy .
